Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid rich tributes to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor late Annisul Huq as she visited the residence of the deceased in the city.
“The prime minister went to Annisul Huq’s Banani residence at about 1.45 pm and paid her profound homage to him,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
When the prime minister reached there, a heart-rending scene was created, the press secretary said, adding the family members of the deceased including his wife, son and daughters broke into tears at that time.
Sheikh Hasina joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul. She then talked to Annisul Huq’s family members exclusively and consoled them.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, brother of the deceased Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and senior leaders of Bangladesh Awami League were present on the occasion.
Annisul Huq breathed his last at a London hospital around 4.23 pm (London time) on Thursday.
