Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today termed the incident of sending former Civil Surgeon (CS) of Lakshmipur Dr Salahuddin Sharif to jail ‘hastily’ was unfortunate.
“It was not wise to send a government employee to jail immediately…serving people is the main objective of them and sending of former Civil Surgeon of Lakshmipur to jail was unfortunate,” he said.
Nasim was speaking as the chief guest at the concluding programme of burn and plastic surgery camp at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College at Gazipur.
Sharif was sentenced to three months in jail yesterday following a brawl with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the district. Later, Lakshmipur court today granted bail to him.
Nasim said, “The hospital placed a rare example in providing healthcare services to the needy people.”
The hospital started its journey on November 18 in 2013 under a joint initiative of KPG of Malaysia and Bangabandhu Memorial Trust.
Advisor of Malaysian High Commissioner Idham Zuhri Mohamed Yunus, Civil Surgeon of Gazipur Dr Dyed Mohammad Manjur and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital Jaitun Binte Sulaiman were present, among others.
